The Faculty of Bioeconomy Development at VMU Agriculture Academy discussed potential areas of cooperation with the Customs Department of Lithuania

On February 26, 2026, representatives from the Customs Department of the Republic of Lithuania visited the Faculty of Bioeconomy Development at Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy: Deputy Director Žaneta Rudaitienė, Head of the Personnel Department Irmantas Lideikis, and Senior Advisor to the Personnel Department Katažyna Lukaševič.

During the visit, a working meeting was held with the Faculty of Bioeconomy Development administration and study programme representatives to discuss future areas of cooperation between the institutions and current issues of specialist education.

Discussed topics included the Customs Department of Lithuania’s involvement in improving study programmes, forming topics for final theses, organising guest lectures, joint projects, student internships, and career opportunities. The importance of consistent cooperation between the academic community and the Customs Department of Lithuania in ensuring the quality of studies, increasing their relevance to the labour market, and preparing highly qualified specialists ready to tackle the challenges of modern customs activities was emphasised.

The meeting focused on the MBA programme “Customs Process Management”, its role in developing the professional skills required for the modern customs system, and ways to integrate more practical customs experience into the curriculum. The meeting also covered other study programmes offered by the faculty, their links to the needs of the Customs Department of Lithuania, and opportunities for customs experts to contribute to the study process.

The Faculty of Bioeconomy Development is grateful to the representatives of the Customs Department of Lithuania for their constructive visit and the opportunity to start discussions on further cooperation. It is expected that the ongoing dialogue will lead to concrete initiatives in the areas of studies, practical training, and expert cooperation, contribute to the training of qualified specialists, and strengthen the partnership between customs and science, which is important for Lithuania’s economic security and prosperity.
