Cultivation of the community spirit, partnership, and long standing traditions in line with the global, scientific, and political trends for development and dissemination of the knowledge in the agricultural biotechnology, ecosystems, engineering, and social sciences to support the sustainable development of bioeconomy (agriculture, food, forest and water management domain) and rural areas, and for creation of conditions for the leaders of these sectors to grow, develop, and contribute to provision of quality food and fully-fledged living environment for every human, in harmony with the nature.

OUR TOP AWARDS AND ACIEVMENTS

In 2021 VMU Agriculture Academy was awarded with the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts award “For Achievements in 2021”.

In the global university ranking “QS World University Rankings”, Vytautas Magnus University took 301-350 range in agriculture and forestry among the world universities in 2021.

VMU Agriculture Academy is a leader in the dissemination of science and knowledge in Lithuania. Since 1995 The university hosts international agricultural exhibitions – one of the largest and most popular exhibitions of its kind in the Baltic States.

VMU Agriculture Academy is the initiator, founder and leader of a unique in Lithuania Agriculture and Food Science, Study and Business Valley “Nemunas”.

MAIN FACTS

Number of students. At present more than 1400 undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students are studying at the VMU Agriculture Academy.

Number of staff. Research and teaching staff of the VMU Agriculture Academy consists of more than 210 people.

Academic subdivisions. Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Bioeconomy Development, Faculty of Forest Sciences and Ecology, Faculty of Engineering, Bioeconomy Research Institute.

Non-academic subdivisions. Business and Social Partnership Center, Experimental Station.

Infrastructure. VMU Agriculture Academy is situated in the area of 719 ha, it has 4 academic buildings, Experimental station, Training farm, a unique academic campus for students and lecturers. During the implementation of projects financed by European Union (EU) funds, the Academy has established a joint research center with laboratories of open access scientific centers equipped with the most modern equipment. The campus has three exhibition pavilions where various international and national exhibitions are held, such as “Ką pasėsi…”, “Inno panorama” and others.

Maecenas. UAB „ROVALTRA“, UAB „LYTAGRA“, UAB „DELAVAL“, UAB „DOTNUVOS PROJEKTAI“, UAB „BALTIC AGRO“, UAB „ARVI“ IR KO, UAB „AGROCHEMA“, UAB „DOJUS AGRO“, UAB „BIRŽŲ ŽEMTIEKIMAS”, UAB „IVABALTĖ”, UAB „AGROKONCERNAS”, UAB „PLUNGĖS JONIS“, VŠĮ „LIETUVOS ŽEMĖS ŪKIO KONSULTAVIMO TARNYBA“, UAB „EAST WEST AGRO“, UAB „KUSTODIJA“, UAB „GINALAS“, UAB „BALTIC AGRO MACHINERY“.

International partnerships. VMU Agriculture Academy cooperates with more than 82 partners from foreign countries (high schools, their departments, scientific, research and business institutions). It participates in Erasmus+ of the EU, in the NOVA-BOVA network of agricultural universities in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Vytautas Magnus University is also a member of the Transform4Europe alliance. In recent years (2019-2022), VMU Agriculture Academy researchers participated in international programs: Erasmus+ (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students); COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology); research and innovation funding programs Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, ERA-NET, Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, financial instrument for the environment LIFE+ , other programs, funded activities and international research projects. According to the Erasmus+ program of the EU, VMU Agriculture Academy is a partner with more than 95 universities in European countries, with a total of more than 170 Erasmus+ partners. 8 contracts for double degree programs have been signed, the joint master’s study program “AgriFood Business Management” is being implemented together with the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies and the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

Membership in international organizations. VMU Agriculture Academy is a member of more than 40 international organizations.
