CENTER FEATURES:
- Participates in the activities of the breeding system of the Republic of Lithuania in accordance with the functions assigned to it and provides services to it;
- Methodically leads the genetic improvement of the quality of the animal’s meat;
- Carries out evaluation of the reproduction according to the characteristics of the progeny of fattening and slaughtered, the quality of meat, control carcasses of offspring of reproductive grown in control females, carcass and meat quality tests;
- Evaluates breeding beef cattle according to the indicators of muscle development and fat distribution in them and the results of the control weighing, processes and analyzes the assessment data;
- Organizes and conducts research;
- Publishes scientific and scientific articles, work reports, etc.;
- Disseminates scientific, experimental and practical knowledge;
- Carries out outsourcing and other work, provide advice to livestock breeders, meat processing companies, etc.;
- Prepares and participates in scientific cooperation agreements;
- Organizes scientific and practical conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
CENTER OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY SELECTIONS, BREEDING VALUES AND DISSEMINATION WORKS, RESEARCH AND SERVICES:
- Evaluation of bulls by descendants of fattening and slaughter characteristics is conducted;
- Assessment of slaughter and sows according to the quality of offspring meat is conducted;
- Assessment of the ovine species according to the progeny of fattening and slaughter characteristics is conducted;
- Adjustment of the livestock origin according to DNA is conducted;
- Livestock weighing service on farms with mobile scales is conducted;
- Fat placement in muscle (meat marble) and ultimate spinal muscle area with an ultrasound scanner are determined;
- The influence of feed and storage technologies and individual feed on livestock production and quality are evaluated;
- The influence of genetic factors on livestock production and quality are evaluated;
- Livestock production is evaluated;
- The chemical composition of the meat, the characteristics of the biological, culinary and technological of the meat are determined;
- Micro and macro elements in meat and feed are determined;
- The chemical composition of feed is studied and animal rations are created and adjusted;
- The efficiency of the use of feed additives and their impact on animal characteristics and meat quality are evaluated;
- The breeding value of beef cattle is determined;
- Consultation on beef cattle breeding and improvement of meat quality is given;
- Seminars, conferences and trainings for farmers are organized.
