The N-Sensor determines the nitrogen requirement by measuring the light reflection from the crops in an area of approximately 50 m2. Measurement results are recorded every second, and the system is programmed to operate at the same speed over the entire area. The principle of sensor technology used in agriculture is the typical light reflection curve of the above-ground part of the plant. The N-Sensor measures light reflectance in a specific wavelength range, which is related to crop chlorophyll content and biomass. The sensor calculates the actual uptake of nitrogen (N) by the crop. Optimum fertilization rates are calculated based on nitrogen absorption data and transmitted to the variable rate control panel of the spreader or sprayer, which adjusts the fertilizer rate accordingly.

N-Sensor – an optical measuring device, mounted on the roof of the tractor, is designed to measure the amount of nitrogen in crops and to determine the nitrogen status at a given time, so that it is possible to ensure that an accurate and optimal fertilizer rate will be calculated for each individual area of the crop field. This technology has already become a benchmark for modern precision agriculture.

Yara N-sensor ALS 2 is used in the fields of the VMU Agriculture Academy Training Farm to develop scientific research, as well as to acquaint students with the equipment both in the laboratory and in the fields of cultivated plants.

500 ml water sampler – intended to collect water samples across different underwater environments up to the depth of 100m

Mud Sampler – equipment is used to collect and retrieve a variety of underwater sediments.

AR Ruler – utilizes augmented reality technology (AR) with laser scaling technology to accurately measure the sizes of underwater objects with high precision and ease.

2-Finger robotic arm –small but powerful robotic arm delivers a clamping and towing force of 100N, is capable of retrieving large and heavy objects and is beneficial across a wide range of applications.

Additional equipment for service, data storage and displaying.

Equipment is intended for comprehensive surveys of surface water bodies. It allows to take water and substrate samples of various surface water bodies, to inspect hydraulic structures, evaluate their condition and accurately measure any occurring damages. Innovative Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies are implemented with these devices, which makes them immersive for educational purposes.

Research stand for aerobic and anaerobic processing of plant biomass and organic waste

The stand consists of:

15-liter reactors for aerobic and anaerobic processing of test materials with mechanical stirrers;
temperature sensors and pH measuring electrodes;
automatic system for maintaining the temperature of the materials being tested;
gas quantity accounting flowmeters for measuring the amount of biogas produced;
integrated control panel for the accumulation and display of measurement and control data.

The stand is designed to study, model and demonstrate the processes of aerobic and anaerobic processing of plant biomass and organic waste. Research on the biodegradation of biomass and organic waste is necessary for evaluating the potential of biogas and biomethane production, the efficiency of composting processes and the quality of the resulting products.
