Department of Land Use Planning and Geomatics
The origins of the Department of Land Use Planning and Geomatics date back to 1949, when the Department of Land Management was established at the Faculty of Water and Land Management of the Lithuanian Academy of Agriculture, which began to organize systematic studies of land management subjects at the Faculty. Currently, the department is headed by assoc. prof. dr. Jolanta Valčiukienė.
The Department of Land Use Planning and Geomatics develops research in the field of environmental engineering and landscaping. Under the two supervised study programs, it trains land use planning specialists who are able to work in the fields of spatial planning, real estate formation and administration. The activities of the department are focused on the requirements of the time, which are determined by the development of new technologies, the market economy, and the rapid progress of the knowledge society.
The department maintains close relations with related departments of Vilnius Tech, Kaunas University of Technology, Klaipėda and Vilnius universities. Close co-operation with the National Land Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, SE Centre of Registers, SE State Land Fund and other state institutions and private enterprises engaged in land use planning and administration works. Particularly close international cooperation with the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technology, the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the University of Warmia-Mazuria in Olsztyn (Poland), the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, the State University of Agricultural Sciences of Moldova, Kazakhstan State University of Agricultural Sciences and other universities.
