Projects

The Faculty of Engineering is implementing the LIFE project  ,,Boosting the  sustainability of the  urban  water cycle: energy harvest in water industry using  micro-hydropower technology“  (project acronym – LIFE NEXUS).

Start of the project on 01/10/2018. End of the project on 31/12/2023.

Project partners: Vytautas Magnus University, Science and Technology Park CARTIF(Spain), Szevalski Institute of Hydraulic Machinery (Poland), hydropower development companies Aquatec and Aquas de Leon (Spain).

The Department of Water Engineering is involved in the project. Head of the project  – prof. dr. P.Punys.

The objectives of the project are to identify potential sites for hydropower in European urban water networks, to create a small-scale hydropower computer network, to evaluate 30 facilities and to prepare design material, to build and launch demonstration prototype.

More about the project in the booklet below.
