Department of Water Engineering
The Department of Water Engineering is an academic unit of the Faculty of Engineering of Vytautas Magnus University, which performs fundamental and applied research, experimental development and scientific knowledge studies, and trains scientists in the field of Environmental Engineering.
The Department of Water Engineering continues the activities of the Institutes of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Engineering. According to the data of January 1, 2022, there were 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 5 lecturers, 1 researcher, 3 doctoral students, and 6 laboratory assistants working in the department.
The Department of Water Engineering carries out 11 main research activities, there are 7 research groups.
The Aquaculture Center conducts research and activities with regional and foreign partners. Since 2015, the Aquaculture Center has had a complex of closed recirculation systems (Fish Breeding and Fish Farming Laboratories). Analytical research is carried out, the center’s infrastructure is adapted for research and R&D initiatives with business partners (a cold-water fish breeding laboratory is installed, as well as an experimental fish farming system, various technological equipment for testing, an aquaponics system).
