Department of Agricultural Engineering and Safety
The Department of Agricultural Engineering and Safety is an academic unit of Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Engineering, which conducts basic and applied research, experimental development and scientific knowledge studies and prepares scientists in the fields of Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Academic unit was established on 8th October, 2012 by the order of University Rector, by merging the departments of Agricultural Machinery, Occupational Safety and Engineering Management and Mechanics and two laboratories – Laboratory of Progressive Crop Engineering and Laboratory of Technology Safety. Department of Agricultural Engineering and Safety continues the good practices and traditions of scientific activities and pedagogical work of the joint units.
The Department employs 1 professor emeritus, 4 professors, 8 associate professors, 4 lecturers and 2 assistants, 1 chief researcher, 5 senior researchers, 2 researchers fellow and 11 junior researchers. 12 doctoral students are currently preparing doctoral dissertations at the Department. Technical staff consists of 4 employees.
The Department staff is engaged in international and national projects and publishes more than 40 scientific articles every year, including roughly 20 indexed in the databases Web of Science (WOS) with citation index. Each year one or two doctoral dissertations are prepared in the Department and defended publicly, 15–20 master students successfully prepare their master and about 10 bachelor students their bachelor theses.
