Department of Environment and Ecology
Department of Environment and Ecology is an academic unit of Forest science and Ecology Faculty, which carries out fundamental and applied and experimental development research, education of researchers (PhD students) and provides science-based study courses. The following study programs are under direct supervision of the department: („Apllied ecology“ (I study cycles), „Ecology and climate change“ (II study cycle). Department provides specific courses in the fields of chemistry, environmental science, ecology and biodiversity conservation. Professors and lecturers of the department offer more than 50 different basic courses, 30 courses for Master studies and 5 courses for PhD studies.
Main research fields
- Biodiversity, structure, sustainability and changes in natural ecosystems under climate change and human impacts.
- Biodiversity, sustainability and change of agroecosystems, management and recycling of biodegradable waste, management of soil biodegradation processes.
- The influence of environmental factors on the quality of soil, air, water and plant raw materials in the soil-water-plant system.
